Hormone Replacement Therapy in Loganville, GA

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). Physician-supervised. Free initial consultation. From $300.

You’re tired all the time. You don’t sleep like you used to. Your mood, your weight, your energy, your sex drive — something is off, and "just getting older" doesn’t feel like a real answer. It probably isn’t.

For a lot of men and women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond, the symptoms blamed on stress or age are actually a hormone problem. Testosterone declines about 1% per year for men starting in their 30s. For women, the years before and after menopause bring a steeper drop in estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone — and the symptoms that come with it.

At Southern Comfort Pain & Wellness, our Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) program is led by Dr. Michael Kissel, MD, with comprehensive lab work performed in our Loganville office and results back in 24 hours. The initial consultation is free.

What Is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy uses hormones that are chemically identical to the ones your body produces naturally — testosterone, estradiol, and progesterone derived from plant sources and compounded to match human hormones at the molecular level.

The most common delivery method, and the one we use, is subcutaneous pellets. A pellet about the size of a grain of rice is placed just under the skin (typically in the upper hip area) during a brief in-office procedure. The pellet releases hormones gradually as your body needs them — no daily creams, no weekly injections, no remembering to take a pill.

For women, pellets typically last 3–4 months. For men, 5–6 months.

Symptoms BHRT May Help

Hormone imbalance shows up differently in men and women, but it almost always shows up. Patients commonly report improvements in:

For Women*

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Mood swings, anxiety, irritability
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Brain fog and memory lapses
  • Low libido and discomfort during intimacy
  • Weight gain (especially around the midsection)
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Loss of bone density

For Men*

  • Low sex drive and erectile dysfunction
  • Loss of muscle mass and strength
  • Increased body fat (especially around the waist)
  • Fatigue and low motivation
  • Mood changes, irritability, depression
  • Brain fog and reduced focus
  • Trouble sleeping

*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. BHRT is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Individual results vary. Treatment decisions are made on a case-by-case basis after lab work and consultation.

Pricing — Transparent, Cash-Pay, No Insurance Hassles

We don’t believe in hiding pricing. Here’s exactly what BHRT costs at SoCo:

Standard First Responders & Teachers
Women $300 $250
Men $700 $600
Comprehensive Lab Panel $150 in-office, results in 24 hours $150
Initial Consultation FREE FREE

What’s included in the price

The price covers your initial consultation, pellet insertion, and follow-up visits.

Pellet schedule: Women will need pellets placed every 3–4 months. Men will need pellets placed every 5–6 months.

Why we discount for first responders and teachers. Police officers, firefighters, EMS, and educators serve our community every day. Lower pricing for them is our small way of saying thank you.

Why we run labs in-house. Most BHRT clinics send your blood out and you wait a week. We draw your labs at our Loganville office and have results back in 24 hours — so we can move faster on your treatment plan.

Why the consultation is free. BHRT isn’t right for everyone. We’d rather have an honest conversation up front than have you pay for an appointment to find out we’re not the right fit.

Why BHRT at Southern Comfort Pain & Wellness

Physician-led. Your treatment is overseen by Dr. Michael Kissel, MD — board-certified in pain medicine and anesthesiology with 20+ years of clinical experience and former department chairman at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center. You’re not getting a cookie-cutter medspa protocol. You’re getting a physician’s judgment.
Comprehensive lab work in-house. Most clinics send labs out and make you wait. Our $150 panel is drawn in our office, and we have your results back in 24 hours.
Free initial consultation. Sit down with our team, ask your questions, and find out if BHRT is right for you — at no cost.
Cash-pay simplicity. No insurance approvals, no surprise bills. Pricing is exactly what we say it is.
Whole-person care. As a pain and wellness practice, we look at how hormones interact with the rest of your health — chronic pain, weight, sleep, energy. We don’t treat you like a number on a hormone panel.

Am I a Candidate for BHRT?

BHRT may be a good fit if you’re experiencing:

  • Symptoms that line up with hormone imbalance (see above)
  • Persistent fatigue, mood, sleep, or libido issues that haven’t responded to other approaches
  • A general sense that "something’s off" that diet, exercise, and stress management haven’t fixed

BHRT is generally not appropriate if you have:

  • A current or recent history of breast or prostate cancer
  • A history of blood clots or stroke
  • Untreated cardiovascular disease
  • You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive

The free consultation and lab panel are how we find out. Lab work tells us your baseline — your treatment plan is built around your numbers, not someone else’s.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BHRT covered by insurance?

No. BHRT at Southern Comfort Pain & Wellness is a cash-pay service. This keeps pricing transparent and removes insurance approval delays. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds.

Are bioidentical hormones safer than traditional HRT?

Bioidentical hormones are chemically identical to the ones your body produces, which is why many patients and providers prefer them. That said, no hormone therapy is risk-free, and individual safety depends on your medical history and lab work. We’ll review the risks and benefits during your consultation.

How long until I feel better?

Most patients notice early changes in energy, sleep, and mood within 2–4 weeks. Improvements in libido, body composition, and cognitive clarity often take 6–8 weeks or longer. Full effects build over the first 3–6 months.

Does the pellet hurt going in?

The procedure is done under local anesthetic. Most patients feel pressure but no sharp pain. The whole appointment takes about 30 minutes.

How often will I need new pellets?

Women: typically every 3–4 months. Men: typically every 5–6 months. Your provider monitors symptoms and may adjust dosing or timing based on your response.

What labs are required and when?

Labs are required prior to your initial pellet placement and again 4–6 weeks after. For women, the panel includes CBC, chemistry panel, lipid panel, FSH, progesterone, estradiol, testosterone, and SHBG. For men, the panel includes CBC, chemistry panel, lipid panel, estradiol, testosterone, PSA, and SHBG. Labs are drawn in our Loganville office with results back in 24 hours.

Can I do BHRT and weight loss at the same time?

Yes — and many patients do. Hormone imbalance and weight gain often go together, so addressing both can be more effective than either alone. We can coordinate your BHRT and medical weight loss programs in one place.

Who qualifies for the first responder and teacher discount?

Police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and current K–12 teachers and school staff. Bring valid ID or a recent pay stub at your first appointment.

Do you treat low testosterone in men specifically?

Yes. Many of our male patients come to us specifically for testosterone therapy. The lab panel and consultation help us determine whether pellet-based BHRT is the right approach for your situation, or whether a different testosterone replacement protocol would serve you better.

Will BHRT cause weight loss on its own?

No — but balanced hormones make weight loss easier. Many patients find that the combination of BHRT and our Semaglutide or Tirzepatide program produces better results than either alone.

What if I’m already on birth control or other hormone therapy?

Tell us at your consultation. We may ask you to be off your current hormones for a brief washout period before lab draws, so we can see your baseline accurately.
