Our Story
Southern Comfort Pain & Wellness was founded in 2022 by Dr. Michael Kissel, a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician with over 20 years of clinical experience. After spending years serving the community at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center — where he served as Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology and President of the Medical Staff — Dr. Kissel opened his own practice with a clear vision: to provide a higher standard of care in a setting that puts patients first.
Located in Loganville, Georgia, Southern Comfort Pain & Wellness is designed to feel different from the moment you walk in. This isn't a high-volume pain clinic. It's not a franchise. It's a physician-owned practice where you'll be known by name and cared for by the same team at every visit.
In 2017, Dr. Kissel was named Physician Specialist of the Year by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce for his work fighting the opioid epidemic while still effectively providing pain management. That same commitment — treating pain without relying on opioids — is at the heart of everything we do.
